UC Davis has launched a nationwide recruitment for Associate Vice Chancellor – Enrollment Management (AVC-Enrollment Management). The AVC-Enrollment Management reports directly to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor.
The AVC-Enrollment Management is a strategic and dynamic leader responsible for planning and leading broad-based programs that prepare students for higher education. Recruits, admits and enrolls an academically minded, diverse, and talented cohort of new freshmen and transfer students who are prepared to serve as model citizens in a global economy. Responsible for program quality and integrity, resource acquisition and allocation, effective development of marketing and communication materials and assessment of programs and activities. Collaborate with various campus and external organizations. Provides leadership and is accountable for meeting annual campus outreach objectives and enrollment targets for new undergraduate students and for achieving campus goals that enhance the prominence of UC Davis nationally and internationally.
The AVC-Enrollment Management influences the size, shape and character of the undergraduate student body at UC Davis. Confers with and advises the Provost, leads the Enrollment Planning Task Force and serves on various campus, systemwide and national committees. This position has a high degree of public and legal accountability, and coordinates and interacts with the University of California Office of the President, Community College Leadership, K-12 Leadership, Campus Deans and Associate Deans, Academic Senate representatives and Directors of Administrative and Academic units.
UC Davis has a student body of 38,000 of which 30,000 are undergraduate students.
The AVC-Enrollment Management manages budget of approximately 15 million dollars and student financial aid scholarships in excess of $600 million.
The AVC-Enrollment Management provides leadership, vision, and direction for a complex set of departments, including: Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the University Registrar, and Enrollment Management Analytics. Provides high level administrative oversight for outreach and recruitment programs such as the Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) Program, the Summer Mathematics and Science Honors Academy, the Early Academic Outreach Program, and the Sacramento Area Youth Speaks Program. Responsible for strategic planning, development, and implementing successful operations within the four main units, including critical functions such as: predictive analytics for enrollment targets, recruitment and outreach, application evaluation, transcript articulation, marketing, communications, operations, events and business services, visitor services, financial aid processing and scholarships, classroom scheduling, maintenance of academic records, residency, transcript processing, and student ID card services.
Enrollment Management begins with the integration of outreach recruitment, selection, enrollment, financial aid and student academic records, and extends to cross-divisional partnerships and collaborations across campus and the UC system.
The incumbent must have a Bachelor's Degree, and five years or more of university admissions or enrollment management experience (including two years or more of supervisor/manager experience) at an institution of comparable size and complexity. The incumbent must also have interpersonal skills, public relations experience and political acumen to interact effectively with the media, to represent the campus at regional, UC-wide and statewide levels, and to work collaboratively and inclusively with a variety of diverse audiences and constituencies (please see position description for full list of required qualifications).
The recruitment advisory committee, chaired by Elizabeth Spiller, Dean, College of Letters and Sciences, is composed primarily of faculty, staff and students.
