Assistant Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff
With training in economics and experience in land use planning, municipal finance, and higher education administration, Karl serves as Chief of Staff to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor at UC Davis, where he manages strategic initiatives for the Provost and oversees administrative services for the Offices of the Chancellor and Provost. Prior to this role, he managed the UC Davis capital planning and real estate services programs. Prior to his university service, he served as the Finance Director for the City of Davis. He was a principal and partner in the consulting firm of Crawford Multari Clark & Mohr, where he managed the firm's Davis office. He holds Masters and Bachelors degrees in Economics from the University of Oregon, and taught micro and macroeconomic theory for the Department of Economics at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, and the Business Department of Sacramento City College. He has been an instructor in the Department of Land Use and Environmental Planning for the University of Davis Extension where he taught Financial Aspects of Planning and GIS: An Introduction.
