Aggie Heroes: Veterinary Emergency Response Team

During the Camp Fire, officials called in UC Davis’ Veterinary Emergency Response Team to help with injured animals. Three veterinarians, VERT Director John Madigan, Emily Berryhill and Lais Costa, and five veterinary students quickly reported to the Butte County Fairgrounds in Gridley and went to work helping dogs, horses, pigs and goats, among other animals. VERT took residency at the fairgrounds with a rotating group of veterinarians and student volunteers for almost two weeks.
