Launched in 2021, Grand Challenges is led by a team of faculty champions and Vice Provost Jonna Mazet, Chancellor’s Leadership Distinguished Professor of Epidemiology and Disease Ecology. The founder of the UC Davis One Health Institute, Professor Mazet is a highly respected expert and brings a great depth of experience in developing innovative and collaborative approaches to what she calls the world’s “large-scale wicked problems.”
