Funding for ASE Salaries and Benefits

Dear Faculty,

I am reaching out to share an important update related to increased expenses associated with the new bargaining unit contract passed in December for Academic Student Employees.

The campus will provide core funding for Spring 2023 Academic Student Employee (BX) salary and benefit increases using its standard funding practice. Increases will be calculated on actual core funded expenses through the end of spring quarter (June 2023). Equal current and base budget allocations for the wage and associated benefit increases will be allocated to deans’ office passthrough accounts prior to fiscal close.  Budget and Institutional Analysis will work with Dean’s Offices to provide these funding allocations.  Decisions about providing central campus funding for these salary increases in the 2023-24 academic year and future years is pending and will be communicated in the annual budget framework.

We will share additional information related to graduate student researchers as soon as it is available.

Strike-related announcements, including UC systemwide updates and campus-specific information, can still be found on the Academic Affairs website, and you are still able to submit questions to strikequestions@ucdavis.edu.

All the best,

Mary Croughan
Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor
