Students Advised of P/NP and S/U Grading Options
Dear Students,
The Academic Senate leadership and the Provost’s Office are working together on instructional and operational challenges related to the continuing UAW strike, and how we can best support your academic success.
The UC Davis Academic Senate approved the following policy adjustments for this quarter (fall 2022):
- Undergraduate students can opt for Passed/Not Passed (P/NP) grading through the last day of instruction (December 2, 2022) for fall 2022. No changes have been made to P/NP unit caps, and you must be in good academic standing to opt for P/NP grading. P/NP grading may not be allowed for major courses (please consult your colleges and advisors).
- Graduate students can submit a Grading Option Change Petition for Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) grading through the last day of instruction (December 2, 2022) for fall 2022.
Instructions on P/NP and S/U can be found on the Registrar’s website. Additional guidance on P/NP and S/U grading flexibilities is available from the Academic Senate.
We remain hopeful that negotiations between the University of California and the UAW will find resolution very soon. Thank you for your continuing commitment to your studies and we wish you a successful quarter.
All the best,
Mary Croughan
