Ten New START Recommendations and Two Town Halls in May

START Recommendations
I am pleased to share with you 10 new recommendations from the START committees that are ready for review and input. The deadline to submit feedback on the below recommendations is Friday, June 20. These are in addition to four recommendations released on March 19.
The first recommendation is from the Assuring Faculty Equity and a Sustainable Workload Committee, co-chaired by Estella Atekwana, dean of the College of Letters and Science, and Ted Powers, executive associate dean of the College of Biological Sciences:

The second is from the Future of Graduate Education Committee, co-chaired by Jean-Pierre Delplanque, dean and vice provost of Graduate Studies, and Cynthia Schumann, professor of cell biology and human anatomy:
The Future of Undergraduate Education Committee, co-chaired by Michael Bradford, dean and vice provost of Undergraduate Education, and Francene Steinberg, a professor of nutrition, submitted four recommendations:
The Improving Campus Support Services, co-chaired by Radhika Prabhu, assistant vice chancellor of administrative IT for Finance, Operations, and Administration, and Cheri Ross, chair and a professor of comparative literature, submitted one recommendation:
And the Optimizing Our Facilities Committee, co-chaired by Kim Turner, executive director of integrated planning and design in Design and Construction Management, and Jared Shaw, a professor of chemistry, submitted three recommendations, for a total of six from this committee that are open for comment:
Every recommendation will go through the review process outlined on the START website and will be sent to the Academic Senate for a Request for Consultation if appropriate. You are invited to share your feedback on each recommendation by using the form on the START website or by emailing starttaskforce@ucdavis.edu.
Two Upcoming Town Halls: Tuesday, May 13, and Thursday, May 29
Two START town halls will be held in May and hosted by Professor Emeritus Michael Brown, immediate systemwide past provost and vice president of Academic Affairs for the University of California.
START’s Optimizing Our Facilities Committee co-chairs Kim Turner and Jared Shaw will hold their committee’s second town hall to discuss its latest recommendations from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13. Please register online now.
START’s Future of Undergraduate Education Committee co-chair Michael Bradford will hold his committee’s second town hall to discuss its current recommendations from 11:00 a.m. to noon on Thursday, May 29. Please register online now.
